A graduate of the University of Maryland, Ronnie is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with an M.A.
in Community Counseling from Hood College. Ronnie trained for 2 years at the Family Therapy
Practice Center in Washington D.C. under Marianne Walters and completed certification in Early Childhood Mental Health from the University of Maryland Innovations Institute and the Taghi Modaressa Center for Infant Study. She has undergone many years of training in mindfulness meditation practice, solution focused therapy, positive psychology, EMDR, parent coaching and family therapy. For over 25 years, Ronnie has provided direct mental health and family support services as a psychotherapist . She has also managed mental health programs and supported the professional growth and development of novice therapists and licensed graduate counselors towards successful licensure in their chosen field of study .
During her six year tenure as Program Director for the Montgomery County Infants and Toddlers Program (MCITP), Ronnie provided oversight of the County’s responsibilities for assuring school readiness of nearly 3,900 children with developmental disabilities, age birth through 3 years of age. Prior to MCITP, Ronnie worked with the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services in several supervisory clinical positions, including the Down-County Child and Adolescent Clinic in Silver Spring, Maryland and the Special Evaluation and Diagnostic Services.
In 2011, Ronnie moved on from her career with Montgomery County Health and Human Services and took an eighteen month sabbatical, Ronnie then launched her private practice offering counseling and psychotherapy, clinical supervision and training. Her working philosophy is to focus on strengths, not deficits or pathology. By discovering, restoring and optimizing each person’s unique ability to thrive and meet the demands, of today’s fast-paced, stressful world, those who have encountered physical and emotional health challenges can discover ways to improve their lives and well being. Operating from her home office and in other community settings, Ronnie provides guidance and support to individuals, parents, families and groups seeking to live healthy, happy and productive lives.
